Поскольку сама книжка Ласситера про субурбию и Great Silent Majority, увы, доступна только в бумаге, в ожидании ее почтовой доставки читаю статью того же автора «The Bulldozer Revolution» на ту же тему.
«The suburbs of the postwar South, however, were home to many of the most dynamic and cutting-edge forces anywhere in the region. The suburbs provided the main locations for cold war military-industrial complexes and the power base of new Republican voters in the 1950s and 1960s.»
Это к тому, что в Мособласти свыше 120 тысяч человек по сей день занято на предприятиях оборонно-промышленного комплекса. Собственно, уже химкинская кампания (а в Химках — Факел, Энергомаш, КБ Лавочкина) — показала, что это за люди.
И как с ними надо разговаривать.

If a vocal minority, however fervent its cause, prevails over reason and the will of the majority, this Nation has no future as a free society.
